  • Part-time (48 hours per fortnight) covering Monday, Thursday and Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm

The Department

Ward 4 East is an acute general medical ward with 40 beds that cares for patients with both acute and chronic conditions. It is a fast-paced environment which requires the ward clerk at front of house to be dynamic and able to prioritise tasks and escalate in a timely way.

The Role

Responsible for the coordination of communication, patient services and clerical functions as directed by the Nurse Manager of the designated ward or department.

  • Word processing (as applicable)
  • Facilitate communication within the ward
  • Arrange and coordinate patient services
  • Clerical duties
  • Promote and maintain good customer relations with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel
  • If necessary to be away from the desk area, ensure the registered nurse in charge of the ward is notified
  • Be aware of role during emergency procedures
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • Key role in ensuring communication reaches patients
