Are you an experienced Plant Operator looking for a change of pace?

We are currently on the hunt for a Waste Facility Operator for our Waste Facility in Wandoan.

Established in regional Queensland in 2008, Proterra Group is proud of our history supporting and strengthening communities across regional Australia. Proterra Group currently manages 15 waste facilities throughout regional Queensland.

This position is responsible for performing general duties relating to the maintenance of the Wandoan Waste Facility, whilst complying with the Environmental and Operational Management Plans and Department of Water and Environment Regulation licence requirements, all while ensuring safe operations and minor maintenance of plant and equipment, and a safe workplace at all times. This position will also provide coverage at the Landfill site office as required, therefore computer literacy is essential.

The Wandoan Waste Facility operator hours are 7:15am to 12:45pm. This permanent part time position is for 2 days per week (Monday and Tuesday) with further hours available as required.

This position requires a candidate who can:

  • Establish and maintain tip face, batters and bund walls and face heights within standards and acceptable limits.
  • Push, compact and cover waste to maximise the life of the Waste Facility and in accordance with operating conditions.
  • Ensure public safety through maintaining internal road networks and signage.
  • Carry out daily plant and machinery checks (electronically), organise scheduled services and repairs, clean equipment and securely store at the end of each day.
  • Screen and sort incoming material to minimise quantities directed to landfill. Ensure that each material is deposited in the appropriate location.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of initiatives and services and providing excellent service to our customers.
  • Effectively and confidently use computers and apps to record waste received and safety operations on a day to day basis.

To be considered for this role, you will be an experienced plant operator, preferably with the following tickets, however these are not deal breakers and willingness to gain these tickets will be favoured:

  • White Card (preferred) and willingness to gain required tickets

This position also requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check), current WH&S Construction Induction Certificate (White) and current Driver's License.

Any other site-specific training will be organised for you by Proterra Group.
