A competitive hourly rate plus penalty rates for this Waste Facility Operator role.

We are seeking an experienced Plant Operator to join our team at the Wandoan Waste Facility in regional Queensland.

As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for performing general duties relating to the maintenance of the facility, ensuring compliance with Environmental and Operational Management Plans and Department of Water and Environment Regulation licence requirements.

This permanent part-time position involves 2 days per week (Monday and Tuesday) with further hours available as required. You will be working closely with our team to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Establishing and maintaining tip face, batters, and bund walls within standards and acceptable limits.
  • Pushing, compacting, and covering waste to maximise the life of the facility and in accordance with operating conditions.
  • Maintaining public safety through internal road networks and signage.
  • Carrying out daily plant and machinery checks, organising scheduled services and repairs, cleaning equipment, and securely storing it at the end of each day.
  • Screening and sorting incoming material to minimise quantities directed to landfill, ensuring each material is deposited in the appropriate location.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of initiatives and services, providing excellent service to our customers.
  • Effectively using computers and apps to record waste received and safety operations on a day-to-day basis.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • An experience as a Plant Operator, preferably with relevant tickets such as a White Card.
