What you'll be doing

The Commercial Acceleration Strategy team acts as an 'Internal Management Consulting' team to solve strategic, commercially focused challenges at Virgin Australia. These strategic initiatives cover a variety of commercial topics, focusing on future revenue growth opportunities.

  • Senior leadership position with 2-3 direct reports (Analyst and Senior Analyst levels) and responsibility for training and mentoring other members of the broader team. Reports to the Head of Commercial Acceleration Strategy, who reports to the Chief Commercial Officer.
  • Maintain a highly visible leadership role that regularly interfaces with General Managers and Chiefs.
  • Lead strategic framing of complex and ambiguous business challenges within commercial topics, solving them with rich and robust data.
  • Train, lead and mentor Analysts/Senior Analysts; contribute to the broader team through best practice sharing.
  • Be a visible point of contact for other senior leaders and provide concise answers to ad-hoc, commercial questions.
  • Collaborate with divisions including Pricing, Digital, B2B sales, Marketing, Ancillary Products, and more.
  • Identify opportunities across commercial functions and lead cross-functional delivery of complex projects.
  • Lead special projects and deep dives for value acceleration and support ELT/Board updates.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, gaps and opportunities; understand drivers of commercial performance using Excel, Power BI and other tools.
  • Champion the annual planning cycle for various commercial divisions to ensure strategic alignment.
You'll be great in this role if you…

You are highly analytical with extensive experience in Strategy. You are also a confident communicator and leader who can concisely convey insights and recommendations to C-Suite stakeholders.

  • 6-10+ years experience in Management Consulting, Internal Strategy or Commercial Strategy teams
  • Bachelor qualification in an analytical field (MBA or higher desirable)
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to build complex models
  • Solid leadership experience, including previous direct reports
  • Confident and polished communication style with the ability to answer complex questions under pressure
  • Extensive experience preparing packs for C-Suites and delivering presentations
  • Experience leading strategic projects with a commercial focus
