About EMHAWS

Elizabeth Morgan House Aboriginal Women's Services Inc. (EMHAWS) is a proudly Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that has been providing culturally safe, specialist family violence services to Aboriginal women and children since 1976.

We operate a high-security refuge and provide a range of programs including crisis accommodation, therapeutic support, advocacy, and culturally grounded case management across Victoria. Our work is led by community and driven by empowerment, healing, and safety.

About the Role

We are seeking a committed Aboriginal Case Manager to support women and children residing in our secure refuge as they recover from experiences of family violence.

You will work as part of a supportive team to provide trauma-informed, culturally safe, and empowering case management, advocacy, and practical support to women with a range of complex needs.

This role involves shift work as part of a 24-hour roster in a high-security residential setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct culturally appropriate risk assessments, safety planning, and case plans
  • Provide crisis intervention, court support, and tenancy advocacy
  • Support women with housing applications and daily parenting needs
  • Develop and lead culturally relevant group activities and weekend programs
  • Maintain accurate client records and case notes using SHIP and internal systems
  • Collaborate with external services and promote strong sector relationships
  • Contribute to service planning, training, and continuous improvement
What You Bring
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander female identity (mandatory)
  • Relevant qualification in social work, community development or related field
  • Experience working with Aboriginal women and children experiencing family violence
  • Strong understanding of the impacts of colonisation, trauma, and systemic barriers
  • Knowledge of MARAM, FVISS, and CISS frameworks
  • Experience in crisis response, advocacy, or housing support
  • Ability to work independently across varied locations and as part of a rostered team
  • Driver's licence, WWCC, and Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
