The Opportunity

Reporting to the Permitting & Isolation Supervisor, the Permitting & Isolation Officer will be responsible for:

  • Developing safe work instructions (SWI) for all areas of the processing plant, especially regarding isolations, and coordinating isolation requirements during planned shutdowns.
  • Creating and issuing permit to work certificates and high risk certificates.
  • Using software to update and maintain piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Maintaining records and legal documents related to high risk work according to Australian standards.
  • Managing physical and online isolation assets, including labels and registers.
Key Responsibilities Permitting Officer
  • Ensuring permits are prepared and compliant with procedures throughout the permit process.
  • Defining hazards and controls, obtaining sign-off from authorized personnel.
  • Designing isolation plans to ensure safety of plant equipment.
  • Preparing work permits and managing isolation lists.
  • Coordinating with maintenance to ensure safe equipment isolation.
  • Providing permit to work training and supporting supervisors during planned and unplanned isolations.
  • Assisting with incident investigations and recommending improvements.
  • Representing shutdown activities and supporting permit-related matters.
  • Training and mentoring process operators on permit to work procedures.
Health, Safety, and Environment
  • Promoting safety and following Life Saving Rules.
  • Contributing to a zero LTI workplace.
  • Managing activities to minimize fatigue and risks, including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Reporting incidents and participating in investigations.
  • Implementing environmental risk controls and reporting issues.
Continuous Improvement
  • Controlling costs and improving processing systems.
  • Suggesting improvements to manuals, procedures, and plant operations.
  • Reviewing work packages and training materials for relevance and compliance.
  • Supporting flexible rosters and shutdown requirements.

This is a permanent full-time role based at our Pilgangoora Operation, operating on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.

About You
  • Experience with fixed plant or equipment in mining.
  • Ability to read P&ID and engineering drawings.
  • Physical fitness and mechanical aptitude.
  • Teamwork, initiative, and safety focus.
  • Proficiency with Projects, Excel, SharePoint/Teams, and Word.
