Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Finance and Accounting Manager, ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions within the MSF Australia and MSF New Zealand finance system, with a focus on month-end balance sheet reconciliations and journals to support timely and accurate financial reporting, and preparation of Business Activity Statements to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Accountabilities will include efficient month-end accounting tasks; assisting with international reconciliations and reporting; year-end audit input; maintaining access and knowledge of systems, platforms and gateways; compliance with financial guidelines; and contributing to the continual improvement of finance procedures and policies.
• Collaborate within the finance team to support Accounts Payable and Finance Officers in processing invoices, payments and expenses; provide payroll backup; and liaise with other departments to streamline and maintain efficient financial processes across the organisation.

Requirements

To be successful in this accounting role, you will deliver accurate financial reporting, stay updated with regulatory changes, adapt to new systems and automation tools, and be motivated by working in a humanitarian aid organisation. Ideally you can demonstrate the following:

• Qualifications in accounting, finance, business administration or related field
• Minimum 3+ years' financial accounting experience including financial reporting and compliance
• Proven understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and financial regulations
• Strong attention to detail
• Proficiency with MS Excel, financial reporting tools and ERP systems (Adaptive, NetSuite, SAP, Preceda; ELMO experience is advantageous)
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
