About The Team

The Respiratory and Sleep Medicine department at Queensland Children's Hospital provides specialised services for children and young people with breathing and sleeping disorders. We treat conditions such as asthma, cystic fibrosis and sleep apnoea. We offer diagnostic testing such as sleep studies and lung studies. We aim to optimise health outcomes for children and young people at QCH as well as our outreach clinic locations.

About The Role
  • Provide excellent customer service in a friendly and helpful manner and maintain the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with parents, patients, members of the public and department staff in all forms of communication.
  • Answer enquiries and provide accurate advice and support to parents, patients and colleagues on all matters relating to respiratory and sleep appointments/studies.
  • Proficiently complete functions associated with the wait listing of patients, appointment management including cancellations, re-scheduling, removals etc. in a timely manner, referral management and data collection.
  • Ability to learn and use clinical computer systems such as ieMR, HBCIS, PowerChart, ESM, Smart Referrals etc.
  • Experience in managing a high level of phone calls, emails and internal correspondence.
  • Complete all documentation relevant to admissions and discharges in accordance with Queensland Health and CHQ HHS Administration Processes.
  • Work autonomously or with limited supervision, utilise discretion in the absence of decision makers by establishing work priorities, achieving work targets, and exercising judgement to solve immediate problems where precedents have not been defined.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and showcase initiative to complete tasks as required within the Respiratory and Sleep service.
