About Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Technical Support Specialist to provide Level 2 application support for VicRoads RLS Frontline Applications, including the Driver Licensing System (DLS), Vehicle Registration and Identification System (VRIS), and associated technologies. This role is critical in ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of applications hosted in AWS environments using Apache Tomcat on Linux.

Incident & Problem Management, manage and resolve incident tickets escalated from the Service Desk, collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure timely issue resolution, conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures, document solutions and monitor trends for proactive support, and report any instances of security non-compliance.
Performance Monitoring, monitor application performance and capacity within AWS, configure alerting thresholds to detect and respond to performance degradation, proactively investigate and resolve alerts, and continuously optimize applications for efficiency and reliability.
Application Management, ensure the efficient operation of mainframe batch processing in AWS, manage internal AWS-based applications for stability, performance, and security, provide technical support for mainframe applications and batch functions, and actively participate in code reviews and debugging activities to maintain high-quality standards.
Communication & Collaboration, communicate incident status and resolutions clearly in non-technical language, collaborate effectively with DBA, cloud infrastructure, and development teams, support technology changes through participation in an out-of-hours roster, and perform other duties as directed within the scope of the role.

About you

You are an experienced IT professional with a strong background in incident, request, problem, change, and release management within complex environments. Your technical expertise spans hardware, software, databases, and cloud-based solutions, and you bring well-developed troubleshooting skills across both on-premises and SaaS platforms. You're action-oriented, capable of resolving technical issues efficiently, and consistently meet service level expectations. Your ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting, and build strong relationships with stakeholders sets you apart. You're a clear communicator with excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, self-motivated approach to learning and improvement.

Ideally, you also bring experience with technologies such as AWS (IAM, EC2, CloudWatch, RDS, S3), Linux OS, Apache Tomcat, Mulesoft, Java, DB2, SQL, and log analysis tools like Elastic Observability. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation, as well as services like Lambda and CodePipeline, will be highly regarded.
