This is a hands-on, customer-facing role, responsible for maintaining mission-critical systems, delivering operational support, and ensuring system reliability in a 24x7 environment.
The ideal candidate will bring over a decade of experience in mainframe support, software migration, and maintenance, along with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Provide operational and technical support for mainframe systems in a z15 z/OS environment.
Manage software maintenance, including patching and upgrading software using SMP/E.
Perform operational monitoring, alerting, and tuning for system performance.
Support application teams and management with mainframe expertise.
Operate and monitor master console activities.
Conduct in-depth analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of incident/problem tickets.
Maintain and enhance middleware, scheduler, and batch processing systems.
Ensure security compliance through RACF and Natural Security administration.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with technical teams and stakeholders.
Provide 24x7 support including shift work and after-hours coverage.
Technical Environment Operating System: z/OSDatabase/Language: Adabas, Natural Transaction Processor: TSO, NIMMonitoring & Operational Support: XYMON, MXG, VPS/NIMSPLMiddleware: MQ, Datastream, RPC, CORBAScheduler/Batch Processor: CA-11, Jobtrac Job Language: JCLSecurity: RACF, Natural Security Source Code Management: N20 Storage/Backup: Hitachi VPS5100, CA-1 (Tape Management)Mandatory Requirements Australian citizenship (Baseline Security Clearance recommended).
Minimum 10 years' experience in: Supporting mainframe environments.
Mainframe software migration and maintenance processes.
Automation scripting using SAS and REXX.z-platform and z/OS hardware and operating systems.
Application control in mainframe architecture, middleware, and tooling.
Batch technology from a support perspective.
