The RoleReporting to the Head of Business Development, this role focuses on the development of new greenfield and brownfield projects following acquisition or inclusion in Potentia Energy's development pipeline. The predominant focus is on land contracts negotiation and management, project feasibility analysis (technical and financial), and management of permitting and connection processes, supported by in-house specialists and external consultants. This role will help advance projects from early stages in preparation for final investment decision or divestment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all relevant project development activities to achieve development and grid connection approval up to final investment decision of the project.
- Manage the preparation of project development schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate and vet inputs needed for project evaluations.
- Lead project meetings with the allocated project team across business units; determine action items and responsibilities.
- Act as internal focal point for the project; engage with internal departments such as Strategy and Transactions, Operations, Legal, Finance and Energy Markets.
- Manage external consultants (permitting specialists, grid connection advisors) to achieve development milestones within approved schedule and budget.
- Develop projects within regulatory and environmental permitting frameworks at Federal, State and Local levels.
- Maintain key project registers (Risk and Decisions Registers, Stakeholder Register, etc.) and inform senior management while proposing mitigation measures.
- Develop and present reports for Senior/Executive Management on project performance against schedule and budget.
- Engage with stakeholders including landowners, local authorities, TNSP/DNSPs and AEMO.
- Coordinate inputs from the Project Team for Final Investment Decision preparation.
- Minimum bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred), Planning or Environmental.
- 5+ years' experience in project development for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Understanding of the regulatory framework for renewable energy projects.
- Understanding of project development stages from early stages to FID.
- Solid understanding of the Australian Energy Market; knowledge of relevant revenue streams for renewable energy.
- Negotiation skills and understanding of land access and development service agreements.
- Excellent skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, MS-Project).
- Flexible working hours with a mix of office and home-based work; compressed work week; $50 internet reimbursement monthly for remote work.
