Overview

Are you a hospital experienced Occupational Therapist with a commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork and an interest in delivering excellent clinical services related to assessment, treatment, planning and evidence based practice?

We are seeking an experienced HP3 Occupational Therapist to undertake a role within the Allied Health team at Sunnybank Private Hospital. We have a permanent-part time position, minimum 45 hours per fortnight in our Allied Health Department. Flexibility to increase hours dependent on caseload requirements is desirable. Weekday (Monday to Friday) work.


As an Occupational Therapist your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy to varied diagnostic groups primarily within the rehabilitation ward to inpatients and outpatients
  • Assist with the treatment of acute patients across the medical, surgical and CCU wards
  • Maximise the occupational performance of patients, adopting a client-centred and goal directed approach
  • Participate in program development and quality improvement activities within the Occupational Therapy Department and hospital
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and professional development programs
  • Providing support to other Occupational Therapists and/or students
  • Support from fellow Occupational Therapists and a diverse range of the Allied Health team

Sunnybank Private Hospital is a 111 bed facility located on the Southside of Brisbane, offering acute medical, surgical, and rehabilitation services. Sunnybank Private Hospital (SPH) is a vibrant and committed hospital that provides a range of coordinated healthcare services designed to deliver and improve the health and well being of the community it serves. It is situated approximately 13 kilometres south of the Brisbane CBD and is the first Private Hospital north of the Gold Coast.


Selection Criteria
  • Bachelor in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Post graduate hospital experience is recommended
  • Excellent clinical practice skills in rehabilitation
  • Well-developed communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisation, time management and self-management skills
  • Autonomy in work practice
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork
  • Sound knowledge of My Aged Care referrals and processes
  • Understanding of NDIS supports and services
  • Ability to conduct and provide recommendations based on home/access visits
