Randstad is currently seeking an experienced Senior Program Officer (APS6) to join a high-performing federal government team. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage complex workloads in a fast-paced environment.

Labour Hire | 6 Month Contract | Canberra , ACT

Position Description

  • Managing grants and competing priorities with accuracy, using sound judgement and strong time management skills.
  • Interpreting and applying policy, legislation, and procedures within a government context.
  • Handling complex or sensitive matters.
  • Providing timely, accurate advice and building strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff, supporting team capability and performance.
  • Using internal systems to manage tasks, budgets, and evidence-based reporting.
  • Preparing high-quality documents such as briefings, reports, and ministerial correspondence.
  • Supporting strategic planning, business improvement initiatives, and change implementation.
  • Leading or supporting project management and secretariat duties as needed.

Key Capabilities
  • Sound judgement, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven experience managing projects or programs, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships and lead teams effectively.
  • Strong IT proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, databases), with the ability to quickly learn new systems and support others.
  • High-level communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey clear and accurate information.

Position Requirements / Qualifications
  • Baseline Clearance.
  • Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
