Overview

The Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Clinical Nurse Consultant - Regional Complex Care Co-ordinator - CYMHS vacancy, with one position in the North and one in the North West. This position is also being advertised as Regional Complex Care Co-ordinator - CYMHS d) and only one position in each region will be filled on merit. We are seeking a senior nurse with experience in complex case management, assessment, counselling and/or therapy. Ideally you will have experience within mental health or a related sector. You will work within a well-supported, multidisciplinary team to provide clinical co-ordination, assessment and developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of young people and their families/significant others who present with very high and complex care needs. This newly created role will support an identified cohort of young people and the people/services involved in their care. These children and young people who have complex mental health issues require specialist expertise to intervene as early as possible to change their life trajectory and improve quality of life outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Being part of a dynamic and well-supported team committed to delivering high quality mental health services to children, young people, and their families/carers.
  • Providing specialist clinical coordination service that supports right place, right care principles to facilitate determined need, and undertaking high level assessments and developing an individual plan that brings together the right mix of services across government and non-government agencies.
  • Promoting a positive working culture by developing effective partnerships and exceptional working relationships with all stakeholders, both within the Agency and with external community service providers, and providing services that are person-centred, high quality, sustainable and responsive to ongoing quality improvement.
  • Working with a diverse multidisciplinary team, including providing support and consultation to other team members as required.

Location
  • North: Based in Launceston CBD. Northern Tasmania offers easy access to Cataract Gorge, waterfalls, bush walks, beaches, and mountain biking tracks. Launceston is a great place to raise children with access to prestigious schools. The Tamar Region/kanamaluka is a beautiful part of Tasmania/lutruwita.
  • North West: Based in Devonport or Burnie.
Position details
  • Some intrastate travel may be required.
  • Details of appointment: Fixed term full time, day worker position, 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible and until 25 June 2027. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary and benefits
  • Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
  • Access to Grade 4 salary range $99,455 - $105,995 is subject to progression to Grade 4.
  • Allowances: Post-Graduate Allowance up to 10% based on qualification type; multidisciplinary allowance may also apply.
  • Benefits available to eligible candidates: Travel and relocation assistance up to $15,000 for overseas appointees, up to $10,000 for interstate appointees; professional development and accelerated pathways; leave entitlements including study leave and professional development support; Fitness Passport (40+ facilities across Tasmania) for $13.95 per week per person or $25.95 per week for a family.
Eligibility
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess a specialist tertiary graduate or postgraduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital-based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
