Yarra Trams is seeking a Head of Rolling Stock Heavy Maintenance to lead the delivery of heavy maintenance at Preston Workshops, including Rolling Stock Overhauls (RSO) and other corrective/reactive maintenance, ensuring compliance with all contractual, legislative, and business standards.

Reporting to the Chief Rolling Stock Officer, key responsibilities include:

  • Leading all Rolling Stock maintenance, programs, and overhauls at Preston Workshops
  • Fostering a safety-first, performance-oriented, and accountable work culture aligned with Yarra Trams values
  • Managing maintenance programs and projects to meet operational, contractual, legislative, and business needs
  • Ensuring resources, systems, and plans support effective delivery of Rolling Stock works
  • Managing stakeholder relationships to meet tram availability KPIs and project deadlines
  • Overseeing industrial relations and compliance with enterprise agreements
  • Providing expert advice on work performance, risks, and opportunities to the Chief Rolling Stock Officer

**About you**

Ideally, you will have:

  • Qualifications in a relevant business or technical discipline, or proven experience managing a large, multi-functional workforce in maintenance, service delivery, or project environments
  • Experience leading and managing diverse teams
  • Ability to coordinate with planning, engineering, and project teams to deliver work as per requirements
  • Knowledge of workforce planning, rosters, enterprise bargaining agreements, safety, quality, and training systems
  • Extensive experience in workforce management and performance improvement
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including dealing with unions, internal departments, regulatory bodies (e.g., ONRSR, WorkSafe, EPA, ESV)
  • Understanding of relevant acts, regulations, and standards impacting maintenance and delivery, including OH&S, Rail Safety, and Environment regulations
