Wurli-Wurlinjang Health Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering primary and clinical health care services to the Aboriginal people in Katherine and surrounding communities. Wurli prides itself on delivering a range of health and wellbeing services to the community in a style and manner that makes clients feel welcome and comfortable. Services include acute and general care, chronic disease, Women's & Children health, men's health, alcohol and other drugs, social and emotional wellbeing, and client support services.

Role Overview

The Health Promotions function is part of Wurli's strategic plan and vision to develop and deliver a consistent approach to health promotion across all areas of the organisation. Led by a Health Promotions Coordinator, this service unit will work collaboratively across the Primary Health Service and Community Services sector to provide effective health promotion and education to our community.

The Health Promotions Officer is responsible for fostering a culture of health promotion within the organisation, developing and implementing effective health promotion interventions, and capacity-building strategies aligned with the priority health and wellbeing issues in Katherine's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This role is pivotal in addressing health inequities and engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at risk of marginalisation into welcoming, non-threatening health and wellbeing services.
