Operated by Healthscope, Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH) is located in Frenchs Forest, Northern Sydney, just 13 km north of the CBD. The hospital is a modern 488-bed facility comprising 60% public and 40% private beds. We offer a wide range of health services including Surgery, a 50-bed Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Birthing, Paediatrics, Cardiac services, Mental Health, Dialysis, a Cancer Centre, and Outpatients.

NBH features thirteen operating theatres, including one hybrid/cardiac catheter theatre, two Catheter Laboratories, and four endoscopy procedure rooms. These are supported by a critical care unit with two intensive care wards.

About the Role

Part-time (0.8 FTE) - 3-year contract

The Clinical Nurse Consultant - McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (MCCN) provides leadership to develop clinical practice aligned with the McGrath Model of Care and cancer services at NBH. The MCCN oversees the coordination of the cancer journey for patients receiving treatment at NBH, aiming to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a role model and expert clinician in gastrointestinal cancer services.
  • Engage directly with patients to assist in planning investigations, treatments, supportive care, and referrals.
  • Provide expert clinical advice to patients, families, and healthcare professionals involved in patient care.
  • Support multidisciplinary care for inpatients and outpatients, including participation in Multidisciplinary Meetings (MDMs).
  • Coordinate education for patients and carers.
  • Lead the development and delivery of evidence-based nursing practices.

To Be Successful:

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration.
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification in the specialty field.
  • Minimum of 5 years full-time post-registration experience, including at least 3 years in oncology, palliative care, or cancer-specific nursing.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working within the private health system.

If successful, your salary will be based on your relevant registered nursing experience, ranging from $63.71 to $65.02 per hour, aligned with the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF Enterprise Agreement
