Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Manager - AML/CTF & Conflicts to join our Legal & Risk team in our Melbourne office.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Execute AML/CTF processes in compliance with firm policies and procedures
  • Support maintenance of the firm's enterprise-wide AML/CTF compliance program and systems, including their design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement.
  • Support and maintain the firm's new business intake and conflicts processes.
Onboarding and Client Due Diligence (CDD)
  • Perform initial and ongoing CDD and enhanced due diligence for high-risk clients, including risk assessments.
  • Review source of funds and beneficial ownership structures.
  • Respond to escalations and support teams with difficult or sensitive CDD scenarios.
  • Support internal processes for identifying and investigating suspicious activity.
  • Make timely decisions to file Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) and submit reports to AUSTRAC within legislative timeframes, per internal processes and policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of client verification documents and internal registers of reported and escalated matters, per internal processes and policies.
  • Support resolution of any standard conflict of interest queries.
  • Respond to internal queries and requests for support relating to the onboarding and CDD processes.
Policies and Procedures
  • Maintain and support the firm's compliance with AML/CTF and conflicts policies and procedures.
  • Maintain documentation in response to regulatory or operational changes, per internal processes and policies.
Training and Awareness
  • Support development and delivery of AML/CTF and conflicts training for all relevant staff, including legal and support teams.
  • Ensure training materials are practical, up to date and aligned with firm policies.
Other
  • Act as a role model for information security. As well as setting an example of good practice, management responsibilities include ensuring that employees, relevant contractors and supplier are aware of their responsibilities, and attend Information Security training where appropriate in accordance with ISO 27001, control A.6.3.
  • Observe all information security controls required by RK, including controls exercised by third parties and conduct reporting as required by internal processes and policies.
Skills/Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of AML/CTF legislation, particularly the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Australia).
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and decision-making skills using risk-based reasoning.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and related security controls.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with legal professionals and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field
  • Risk management and/or Financial Crime and Compliance experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in AML/CTF compliance
  • Certification in AML/CTF (e.g., ACAMS, ICA) highly desirable
  • Experience with AML/CTF software and case management systems is an advantage
