The School

At Darling Range Sports College (SC) we are committed to success for every child. We provide a range of meaningful learning opportunities across all curriculum areas to ensure our students succeed as they follow their chosen pathway. Our College standards (the 5Ps) of being Proud, Polite, Prepared, Punctual and Productive are embedded into everything we do. As a member of the Science team at Darling Range SC you will be a vital part of a talented and energetic team of specialist teachers who are committed to the continued excellence in teaching and learning at Darling Range SC.

Darling Range SC is located approximately 15 kms east of the Perth city centre in the foothills of Perth. The College is experiencing rapid growth and is seen as a school of choice by the local community and by students from across the state who enrol in our specialist sports programs.

Darling Range SC is a Positive Behaviour School that encourages resilient and independent students. The ability to build and maintain safe, positive learning environments where students flourish is important for our students' success.

As the state's only Sports College, Darling Range SC provides specialist programs in AFL, Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Swimming, Triathlon and Rugby. Complementing our sporting programs are extensive opportunities to participate in the Academic Challenge and Enrichment Program (ACES), the Music Program, the Vocational Educational Program and the Arts Program.

The Role

Darling Range Sports College (SC), an Independent Public School, is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Science Teacher who can inspire students to engage in curriculum, strive for excellence and is proactive in improving student outcomes.

In 2025 the College is completing a multimillion-dollar renovation of our Science labs and collegiate area. Teachers will start 2026 in new, modern facilities. These incorporate the latest design philosophies to engage and inspire students to reach their full potential in the Science learning area.

The successful applicant should possess excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to provide students with the highest quality curriculum delivery and programs within the Science learning area.

They will ideally have previous experience as a teacher in the Senior School, as well as being flexible and adaptive to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching. Additionally, an ability and experience in teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Psychology would be advantageous but not essential.

A major focus of the College is also the implementation of Explicit Instruction (EI) across all learning areas. Experience using EI in the classroom is not a prerequisite for this position, but the successful applicant will ideally display a willingness to incorporate this into their teaching practice. Knowledge or completion of Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and Instructional Strategies (IS) professional workshops would also be highly desirable.
