Yanchep Secondary College (SC) provides young people in the Yanchep area with a high quality, comprehensive education. The college opened in 2018 in a brand new purpose built school. We enrol students from year 7 to year 12 and offer a broad, high-level curriculum encompassing academic programs and vocational courses to provide students with opportunities to pursue learning interests that inspire and challenge them.

Our school has specialist teachers, a challenging curriculum that inspires excellence, and many options and pathways for students to succeed, including university, further training, or employment. The college is part of the Metropolitan Teaching Program for hard to staff schools. Teaching staff receive an additional allowance on top of their normal conditions.

The Role

The successful applicant should have proven abilities in learning program planning and instructional practice to facilitate improved student outcomes. We are seeking teachers who are strong team players who support improvement in teaching and learning in a Senior High School environment. You should ideally model a culture of self-reflection and engagement in coaching that promotes your professional growth.

You shall support the Health and Physical Education (HPE) Learning Area team to strategically meet the learning needs of all students studying HPE curriculum and work closely with all members of the HPE team to promote growth through professional conversations, coaching and peer observations to embrace all challenges and opportunities.

To be successful, you would ideally have a moral purpose that is aligned to making a difference in the lives of young people by preparing them to be active and productive adults. This includes the commitment and desire to create and sustain a safe, student-centred learning environment. Aligned to the college's whole school instructional model, the successful applicant will demonstrate an understanding of Explicit Direct Instruction, High Impact Teaching Strategies, strong behaviour management, knowledge of differentiation and the ability to cater for our 'Students at Education Risk'.

You would ideally possess excellent communication and public relation skills that allow you to build and maintain collaborative and respectful partnerships across the college and the wider community. You would possess exceptional interpersonal, organisational and instructional skills as you support the HPE Learning Area through the College's School Improvement agenda. We value creative thinking that leads to better solutions and outcomes for our students.
