This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026. Woodvale Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dedicated Health and Physical Education teacher to join their friendly and dynamic team and lead the Specialist Basketball program. This is a flagship program for our College that we are hoping to develop further.
Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. The RoleThe successful applicant will be a motivated teacher passionate about shaping students' futures. They will possess excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Health and Physical Education Curriculum and a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, with a focus on student achievement and high expectations. Ideally, applicants will be able to extend high performing students, promote active learning and provide learning opportunities which engage students at all levels to achieve their potential and will embrace the school's ethos and vision. They will engage in 21st Century learning practices and share these practices with their colleagues. As the leader of the Specialist Basketball program, you will be required to:
- Promote the Specialist Basketball program in the community
- Liaise with parents and caregivers of students who are in the program
- Coordinate extra-curricular activities such as competitions, carnivals and games held both at the College and off-campus
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Capacity to teach the Certificate II Sports Coaching (Basketball)
- Association level coaching qualifications (level 2)
- Current experience coaching high level teams
- Manual LR or above drivers licence

The successful applicant will ideally be innovative and inclusive and able to cultivate a safe and accountable learning environment for students of varying ability levels across Year 7–12. You will be highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment, with the ability to provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding related to Health and Physical Education.

EligibilityTo work with us, you must:
- Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment

- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start
