Payroll Officer and Assistant Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to manage payroll processes and assist with daily accounting functions. This role offers the chance to work with an international team and support global payments.

ResponsibilitiesPayroll Management
  • Administer payroll processing across four countries, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Manage employee entitlements such as leave and sick days
  • Coordinate with outsourced payroll providers to ensure timely and compliant payroll execution
  • Resolve employee payroll inquiries efficiently
Compliance & Reporting
  • Prepare and submit statutory payroll filings, including payroll tax and government contributions
  • Stay updated with relevant legislation, particularly in Australia
  • Ensure compliance with single-touch payroll (STP) and leave liabilities
  • Support audit processes with payroll documentation
Reconciliation
  • Perform payroll reconciliations for taxes, superannuation, and balance sheet accounts
  • Process payroll-related journal entries for month-end reporting
Assistant Accountant Responsibilities
  • Perform bank and payment gateway reconciliations across jurisdictions
  • Manage journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and expenses
  • Assist in expense payments, ensuring proper coding and approvals
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly BAS statements
Month-End and Audit Support
  • Support month-end closing activities and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Assist with management reports and audit documentation
Cross-Functional Support
  • Provide backup for accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Collaborate on process improvements with finance and HR teams
Requirements
  • At least 2 years' experience in payroll or accounting roles
  • Accounting qualification (CPA/CA or studying towards)
  • Experience with NetSuite is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and Excel skills
  • Proven experience managing Australian payroll
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
