Senior Civil Estimator

ACE Immigration Services is acting on behalf of its client Melwide Homes in seeking applications for the position of Construction Estimator (ANZSCO in Australia. All applications will be assessed and forwarded to Melwide Homes for consideration.

Job Purpose:
The position is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates and proposals for residential construction projects by thoroughly analysing drawings, specifications, and related documentation. It involves assessing material, labour, and equipment requirements, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensuring that all estimates are aligned with current market rates. The role supports project planning and decision-making by providing reliable financial projections and cost breakdowns. It also ensures projects are competitively priced, profitable, and delivered within budget, while complying with client requirements, industry best practices, and relevant standards.

• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects, covering materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Analyze project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to develop comprehensive cost plans for client proposals.
• Collect, assess, and update data on materials, labour, and subcontractor pricing, monitoring cost variations during construction, and preparing progress reports.
• Prepare preliminary sketches, detailed work drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities with full cost breakdowns for tenders.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to obtain and validate pricing information, assess risks, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Review project budgets, compare with actual expenditures, and recommend adjustments to maintain cost control.
• Collaborate with clients during the design process to ensure projects meet budgetary expectations while achieving quality outcomes.
• Inspect work, materials, and workmanship throughout construction to verify compliance with specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
• Stay updated with advancements in construction materials, building techniques, market pricing trends, and industry regulations.
• Ensure strict compliance with Australian standards, building codes, and workplace health and safety requirements.

• Demonstrated knowledge and proven experience as an Estimator within the residential construction industry.
• Qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
• Proficient in estimating software and spreadsheet applications, with advanced analytical skills and high attention to detail.
• Prior hands-on experience as a Construction Estimator in the Australian building sector, with a sound understanding of local codes and standards.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to foster strong working relationships and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
