The Opportunity :
We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant (Regulatory Reporting) for a maximum 12-month term to join our Corporate Services team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, External Reporting, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the transparency and quality of financial data reported to APRA and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare and coordinate quarterly and annual APRA returns.
- Assist in coordinating deliverables with external bodies such as the Fund's custodian, auditors, and actuaries.
- Prepare key Fund data, including ABI / VBI calculations and reserve balances.
- Support the development and monitoring of APRA regulatory reporting frameworks.
- Implement Phase II APRA SDT reporting policies, processes, and procedures.
- Execute process improvements to enhance automation, transparency, and auditability.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assist with month-end close processes, including journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and project accounting.
About You :
- CA or CPA qualification is essential.
- Experience in finance, preferably with a background in a Big 4 professional services firm.
- Knowledge of superannuation, investment accounting, or the financial services industry.
- Experience in APRA reporting.
- Strong accounting skills and knowledge of accounting standards.
- Proficiency in Excel and strong spreadsheeting skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture.
- Excellent prioritization and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical and interpretive skills regarding regulatory requirements.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence and communicate at all levels.
- A strong team player.
