About the Role

As Financial Controller at DBG Health, you'll lead a talented finance team while working closely with senior management to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role oversees end-to-end accounting processes, payroll, and IT support, maintaining the integrity of the Group's general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal controls. You'll shape finance systems and processes, drive continuous improvement, and provide technical accounting expertise to support strategic business decisions. With direct leadership over multiple finance and operational functions, you'll foster a collaborative, high-performance culture and mentor your team to achieve their best. Role & Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Coordinate monthly internal and external financial reporting, deliver P&L, monthly accruals, reconciliations, oversee GST, payroll reporting, state revenue obligations, and manage year-end reporting and audit activities.
  • Finance Operations & Process Improvement: Oversee finance systems from transaction source to general ledger; design, implement, and review finance policies and procedures; model financial implications of business changes; identify and implement process efficiencies and automation; monitor and forecast short-term cash; manage annual insurance renewals.
  • Technical Accounting Support: Provide advice on complex technical accounting issues; ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls; engage external experts as needed.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor finance, payroll, and IT teams; set goals and KPIs; provide coaching and development; foster a collaborative culture.
  • Payroll & IT Oversight: Ensure accurate payroll processing; oversee IT support and infrastructure management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders; act as a business partner to management with financial insights.
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior management accounting or financial role within a complex organisation.
  • 3–5 years' experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • CA or CPA qualified, with a tertiary degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Advanced expertise in accounting, financial management, tax, and commercial analysis; experience with process improvements and efficiencies across finance operations.
  • Strong experience with large ERP systems; knowledge of Microsoft Business Central and Power BI desirable.
  • Skilled in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with GST, FBT, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to turn complex data into clear commercial insights for decision-making; strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office 365 skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Forms).
