An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Technical Coordinator to lead the operations of Clinical Biology laboratories supporting teaching, research, and industry engagement activities. This role is ideal for a motivated professional with strong leadership skills and a background in biological sciences.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager, you will oversee the daily management of laboratory spaces and lead a team of technical officers to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient technical services. You will play a key role in stakeholder engagement, compliance, staff supervision, and infrastructure coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate day-to-day laboratory operations, including equipment use, procurement, and inductions.
  • Provide expert technical advice and support to academic and research staff.
  • Supervise a team of technical officers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Ensure compliance with OH&S standards, legislation, and institutional policies.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support planning, audits, and infrastructure improvements.
About You
  • Proven experience in biological sciences, with advanced knowledge of laboratory practices and equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical services and lead staff in a teaching and/or research environment.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of OH&S compliance within laboratory settings.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Degree or higher qualification in Biological Sciences or related discipline.
  • At least 4 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Supervisory or management experience is highly desirable.
  • Current Working with Children Check (mandatory).
