Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Support Specialist to join our operations team. The successful candidate will provide technical support for teaching programs, ensuring the smooth operation of practical classes and meeting staff and student needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance for teaching programs, including setup and maintenance of specimens, mannequins, clinical equipment, and molecular biology materials.
  • Coordinate equipment and materials for practical classes, resolving technical issues to ensure smooth operations and meet staff and student needs.
  • Manage documentation, track progress, and proactively address issues to meet agreed timelines and standards.
  • Advise staff and students on the safe use, ordering, and disposal of chemicals, biologicals, and equipment.
  • Evaluate and improve existing processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a degree or equivalent relevant work experience; or
  • Completion of an associate diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or
  • Completion of a post-trades certificate or advanced certificate and extensive relevant experience as a technician; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting, ideally within a tertiary education environment.
  • Good knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and an understanding of the requirements for safety when working with biological and chemical hazards.
