Director, Aged Care Programs role at NACCHO Australia is a senior leadership position responsible for leading a new aged care team and developing and implementing programs that improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing aged care.
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will manage a team plus contractors, while also contributing to work as required, including drafting submissions and managing grants. The role includes leading the Elder Care Support Program, representing NACCHO on national reference groups, and engaging with governments, ACCHSs, and community stakeholders to ensure culturally safe and effective aged care services.
This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander aged care policy and programs at the national level.
About the organisationThe National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is the national peak body representing 146 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs). ACCHSs deliver comprehensive primary health care to more than half of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally. As an act of self-determination, these services respond to the full spectrum of health and wellbeing needs, from community empowerment to individual care and continuity of services.
NACCHO works to support ACCHSs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by negotiating and advocating with governments on health care policy, programs, and systems reform. This includes chronic disease management, preventative health strategies, telehealth, mental health and social and emotional wellbeing, MBS listings, and the broader social and cultural determinants of health.
It is an exciting time across the health sector, with NACCHO driving systems reform in the context of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and major government commitments to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
