Job Description

A forward-thinking and proudly independent School, we are seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications Manager to lead the School's communications, branding and marketing initiatives.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the voice of a School that has, since 1875, championed a broad, liberal education for girls and young women. Reporting to the Director of Communications, Development and Engagement, you will drive impactful communications strategies that reflect the School's ethos and excellence.

You will lead a passionate and creative team of four communications professionals and collaborate closely with senior leaders to advance the School's Strategic Design and enhance its reputation as a national leader in girls' education.

About the Role

This pivotal role combines strategic thinking, creative direction, team leadership and hands-on communication. You will:

  • Develop and deliver integrated marketing and communication strategies that reflect the School's vision and values
  • Lead media relations, crafting compelling narratives and building positive, influential relationships with key outlets
  • Oversee digital and social media channels, managing website content and CRM use, ensuring a strong, engaging online presence
  • Manage School publications, including editing and commissioning graphic design and printing, maintaining high editorial and visual standards
  • Guide internal and external communications, aligning messaging across all departments and strengthening community engagement
  • Collaborate across departments, including Enrolments, Development and Alumnae, to ensure coordinated and cohesive communications

About you

You are a strategic communicator with an innate ability to influence, inspire and lead. With extensive experience in communication and marketing within a complex organisation, you bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field
  • At least 5 years' relevant experience
  • Exceptional written and visual communication skills across a range of platforms and audiences
  • Strong leadership and team management experience, with the energy to foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture
  • A sharp aesthetic eye and a decisive, strategic mindset when it comes to brand, design and content
  • Proven expertise in media relations, brand positioning and digital engagement
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines with confidence and composure
  • A commitment to purpose-led work and a passion for empowering young women through education
  • Eligibility for a Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
