The Principal Safety Advisor acts as a subject matter expert to a team of Health and Safety practitioners, supporting and advising Operational Leaders. The Principal Safety Advisor coordinates Health and Safety initiatives, participates in audits, inspections, and site verifications of implemented processes, and drives continuous improvement in Health and Safety performance across the business.
This role is a Monday – Friday based role at our Osborne Park Head Office
Key Responsibilities- Provide visible and proactive safety guidance, modelling best practice and championing a positive safety culture across all site and corporate environments, including contractors.
- Lead, coach, and develop the safety team and Technical Services operational leaders, ensuring correct applied safety processes, identifying training needs, and fostering continuous improvement across departments.
- Ensure the effective application of the organisation's Risk Management Framework, specifically on critical control monitoring and minimising of fatality risks.
- Oversee incident and emergency response management, including investigation quality, action tracking, audit compliance, and correct use of the INX safety management system.
- Proactively identify, assess, and address safety risks and operational barriers, generating strategies to improve safety performance and achieve operational targets.
- Engage collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and the distribution of up-to-date safety information.
- Monitor, interpret, and discuss legislative and industry changes to maintain compliance and drive continual improvement in health and safety standards
- Professional qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
- Current Western Australian Drivers Licence
- ICAM and or Taproot & Auditing qualification
- Proven experience in a Health and Safety leadership role within the Mining Industry
- Incident Investigation experience
- Analysing and reporting Safety Data to peers and senior leadership
- Knowledge of the implementation and monitoring of Fatality Risk and Risk Management programmes
- Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of safety management processes and systems
- Experience in the practical application of safety in the mining industry
