We are currently seeking applications for a Factory Assistant to join the team at Pioneer Mill in the Burdekin Region. This is a permanent position in our sugar processing factory and requires shift work including weekends and some overtime.

The Factory Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Pioneer mill production Shift Trades, Operators, and the Operations Coordinator to ensure factory reliability and performance. You will work within the production shift team, assist the control lab, and support the day execution team with break-in and preventive maintenance.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Work safely and effectively within a team environment as a member of the Production Shift team.
  • Collect Bagasse and wastewater samples for lab analysis.
  • Collect mill crushing juice samples (mill 2-5).
  • Conduct steam out of juice supply lines to the lab when required.
  • Assist the production team with operating mobile plant to meet factory requirements.
  • Help complete preventive and emergency breakdown work.
  • Complete lubrication check sheets, and perform servicing and cleaning of factory equipment.
  • Report equipment faults, damage, and incidents via iPad applications.
  • Undertake further training and development.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to operate under a rotating lifestyle shift roster (Days and Nights).
  • HR Licence.
  • Dogger certification.
  • Basic Rigger qualification.
  • Non-slew crane experience.
  • Confined space and working at heights certifications.

Qualifications such as Loader ticket, Basic Scaffold, and OHG Crane are highly desirable; training can be provided to suitable candidates.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to continuous improvement, good communication skills, be self-motivated, organized, safety-conscious, and able to provide regular, accurate feedback on their work.
