
Health And Safety Manager

On behalf of my clients who operate in the Australia Federal Government sector I am currently looking for multiple WHS professionals who hold NV1 or above clearance for long term (12 month +) day rate contract roles based in Canberra.
Role 1: Civil Maritime Safety LeadLead and coordinate civil maritime actions in response to Comcare notices and requests for information. Manage action plans and coordinate input to ensure timely actions and completion of related activities, as well as directly manage reporting to executive and Comcare.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in maritime safety, operations management and Comcare program.
- Strong understanding of Commonwealth Safety Management frameworks.
- Knowledge of Commonwealth work health and safety legislation and industry standards.
- Familiarity with safety principles and best practices and understanding of risk assessment and risk management.
Lead and manage the implementation of civil maritime safety recommendations and improvements. This role will lead and manage the civil maritime quality management system, as well as coordinate civil maritime safety assurance across the fleet. Oversee safety trend analysis and reporting functions including maintaining the Work Health and Safety Incident Reporting (WHSIR) system and SharePoint site administration and design.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in WHS, quality management and assurance.
- Strong understanding and experience with Commonwealth WHS Act.
- Solid understanding of assessing WHS recommendations, implementing or advising enhancements for recommendations.
Lead and manage a program of safety training. This role will lead the delivery of safety training and manage a safety training assurance data base.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- A degree or diploma in a related field, such as WHS or training and assessment.
- Experience in developing, delivering, and assessing training programs.
- Strong understanding of Commonwealth Safety Management frameworks.
Build and maintain effective relationships to work collaboratively and co-operatively with partners, stakeholders and clients. The role requires a highly skilled and motivated leader with exceptional communication, time management, brief writing skills and negotiation skills. Manage the continuous improvement of the Safety Management System.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Designated Person Ashore training. (Can be provided to the successful applicant).
- A demonstrated and thorough working knowledge of the Navigation Act 2012, the Maritime Powers Act (Cth) 2012.
- Demonstrated understanding of the ISM Code, and experience of its implementation through Marine Safety Management Systems.
- Experience in an equivalent safety role in another sector, for example aviation.
