A bit about your role
The Lead Forensic Investigator is a senior member of the Forensics and Threat Intelligence team at nbn, responsible for leading complex digital investigations, managing forensic technology operations, and ensuring evidence integrity. The role oversees data breach responses, eDiscovery, and supports lawful data requests, while contributing to strategic security insights.
It involves mentoring junior staff, maintaining the Secure Digital Forensics lab, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate risks. The position also supports policy development, incident response, and stays abreast of emerging cyber threats.

The ideal candidate will have extensive years of experience in forensic technology investigations, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly. They should be proficient in industry-standard forensic tools (e.g., Nuix, EnCase, Cellebrite), SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel), and have a solid understanding of IT systems, data management, and risk mitigation.
Relevant certifications (e.g., EnCE, GCFE, GCFA) and eligibility for Security Clearance (Negative Vetting Level 1) are preferred. Experience in scripting (Python, PowerShell) and a Certificate IV in either Government Investigations or Digital Forensics is advantageous
