Your new role

We have an opportunity for an individual to join our Investigations unit as Senior Financial Investigator on a full-time, fixed term basis to February 2026. Reporting to the Manager - Investigations, the role will utilise forensic accounting techniques to analyse financial and business documentation and information to identify serious corrupt conduct

Duties include:

  • Provide leadership and actively participate as a key contributor in a multi-disciplinary team investigating serious corrupt conduct and subsequent processes, including the provision of direct input in relation to the identification and analysis of relevant financial and business documentation and information.

  • Conduct and manage the analysis of relevant public and private sector records directed at assembling and presenting admissible evidence, including the provision of assistance in the taking of statements from witnesses and participating in the interview of persons as required.

  • Provide high quality, timely and objective advice to members of the team and other IBAC officers in relation to the sources, collection, analysis, examination and presentation of financial and business information, and/or specialist aspects of accounting, financial analysis and investigative work.

Our requirements / Your skill set

We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities:

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting which satisfies eligibility criteria for either CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or equivalent professional body is required.

  • Corporate and financial accounting experience with an emphasis on forensic analysis and the provision of reasonable, timely, objective and supported opinions dealing with complex financial matters in a manner that is readily understood.

  • Significant experience in forensic accounting and forensic investigative techniques.

Due to the requirement to attain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.

Secondments from state and federal government departments are encouraged and welcome, however, due to a conflict-of-interest IBAC is unable to accept applications for secondment from Victoria Police employees.
