Payments and Integrity GroupThe Payments and Integrity Group aims to protect the integrity of government outlays for social welfare and Medicare Public claims. The Group does this by administering the Agency's fraud and compliance risk programs, maintaining strategic information data holdings, and managing debt recovery and appeal processes.
National Manager, Fraud InvestigationThe Fraud Investigation Branch assists in protecting the integrity of Commonwealth outlays administered by the Agency and Agency appropriations. The Branch is primarily involved in detecting and investigating cases of fraud relating to Medicare, Child Support and welfare programs.
The Branch is also responsible for leading investigations of potential unauthorised access and/or disclosure of information, and internal (Administrative and program) fraud and corruption.
The Fraud Investigation Branch works closely with other agencies such as the:
Where necessary, the Agency takes appropriate action including investigating cases of fraud, undertaking joint-agency projects and operations, and contributing to the implementation of fraud prevention strategies.
The Branch has specialised teams that are highly skilled in detecting and investigating fraud and related crime. It works closely with other Commonwealth agencies to respond quickly to these threats.
The Branch conducts its fraud investigations in accordance with Commonwealth law, with briefs of evidence prepared for consideration by the CDPP where there is sufficient evidence of an offence. Penalties imposed by the courts may include imprisonment and fines.
The Branch may conduct an administrative investigation to determine a customer is/was receiving the correct entitlement. Administrative investigations are a key prevention and disruption tool. They provide the flexibility to apply a treatment other than a prosecution referral, allowing the Branch to match response to risk, act quickly to disrupt behaviour and make the best use of resources.
The Branch also has monitoring mechanisms in place for individuals of interest and undertakes analysis of information received, relating to current and emerging issues that may impact on the implementation of the Agency's compliance activity.
The branch has responsibility for one key budget measure, the Fraud Fusion Taskforce.

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field are highly desirable.
The roles may be filled on an ongoing or non-ongoing (fixed term) appointment.
A merit pool may be established to fill similar roles as they become available within an 18-month period.
EligibilityTo apply, you need to be an Australian citizen.
You will need to pass our pre-employment screening process, which includes a pre-employment check, and where relevant, a working with children and vulnerable people check.
You will also need, or have the ability to acquire an Australian Government security clearance, to the appropriate level for the position. This will be arranged for you, if successful.
