Overview

Planner - Community Strengthening role at City of Boroondara. This is a full-time, fixed-term position until February 2026 (part-time will also be considered). An exciting secondment opportunity for an experienced Social Planner within Council's Community Development team until February 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Design, research, develop and implement strategies, projects and procedures to facilitate high quality and responsive community services and facilities.
  • Work closely with other Council departments and the community to plan and deliver community infrastructure projects and projects that strengthen neighbourhood connections.
  • Collate and analyse demographic data to identify community needs for services and facilities, preparing needs assessments for community facility projects for Council and funding submissions, and collaborate with colleagues in the community.
  • Strengthen the business unit to build the capacity of community organisations.
What you will bring

You will be part of a small, productive team in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, show initiative, and apply project management experience. You will have experience managing multiple projects and working with project partners, and designing and implementing community consultation and engagement. You will have strong partnership development and communication skills, including the ability to write reports and submissions for diverse audiences.

Experience and other requirements
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in project management methodologies.
  • Experience in managing customer-facing projects involving engagement with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management, including delivering multiple projects in a medium to large corporate environment.
Employment requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in social sciences, or Certificate IV in Project Management, coupled with substantial experience in community planning and engagement.
  • Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
