Administration Officer – H. Parsons Group

Make a difference every day.

H. Parsons has been part of the Illawarra community for over 130 years. We're a proud, family-owned organisation that cares deeply for the people we serve—and for the team members who make that care possible. With more than 80 local staff and partnerships with 40+ community and sporting groups, we believe in integrity, compassion, and providing families with choice and transparency—never sales tactics.

About the Role

We're looking for a dynamic and resourceful Administration Officer to join our growing business. You'll play a pivotal role in keeping our offices running smoothly, supporting funeral arrangements, and delivering an exceptional first impression for every family and partner who walks through our doors.

Funeral industry experience is not required. What matters most is your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, where priorities can change quickly and attention to detail is essential. You stay calm and organised when the phones are busy, families need guidance, and multiple tasks compete for your attention—turning challenges into opportunities to deliver an exceptional, dignified service.

Hours of Work

Standard Schedule: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday

RDO: One rostered day off (RDO) as per company scheduling

People-first: An authentic communicator who can adapt your style to put others at ease.

Detail-driven: Calm under pressure, you meet deadlines while keeping accuracy front and centre.

Professional & polished: Well-spoken, well-presented, and naturally welcoming.

Quick learner: Self-motivated and eager to research solutions when challenges arise.

What You'll DoOffice Administration

Be the first point of contact for visitors and phone enquiries.

Prepare quotations and keep our CRM (Funeral Manager) accurate and up to date.

Coordinate daily schedules and communicate changes clearly across teams.

Manage invoices, banking, and account reconciliations in Xero.

Ensure the office is immaculate and well-supplied at all times.

Event & Client Coordination

Gather detailed information from families with empathy and respect.

Provide timely updates and outstanding service to families and key partners.

Build relationships with clergy, celebrants, hospitals, aged-care facilities, and other community contacts.

Funeral Support

Assist Funeral Directors to ensure services run seamlessly and to the family's wishes.

Prepare flowers, music, memorial booklets, press notices, and more—down to the smallest detail.

Ensure all regulatory paperwork is accurate and completed on time.

Maintain risk registers and follow all WHS and infection-control guidelines.

Monitor and support the wellbeing of yourself and colleagues.

Additional Requirements

Justice of the Peace (NSW): Already appointed or willing to become one within six months.

Vaccination: Must be fully vaccinated against vaccine-preventable diseases.

Full driver's licence and willingness to travel between branches when needed.

Why Join H. Parsons?

Be part of a supportive team that truly values compassion and excellence.

Work for one of NSW's largest independent funeral organisations.
