Commencing Term 1, 2026 we have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Department in English. As Head of Department, you will play a pivotal role in driving high-quality learning and teaching outcomes. This position requires strong leadership across pedagogy, curriculum design, staff development, student performance, and operational management.

Your Role Will Include
  • Pedagogical Leadership: Lead curriculum development, assessment practices, and innovative teaching strategies aligned with NESA requirements and the College's educational vision
  • Team Leadership: Inspire and mentor a team of educators, supporting recruitment, performance, coaching, and professional growth
  • Student Outcomes: Monitor and evaluate student performance, guiding staff in creating individualised learning plans and interventions
  • Operational Oversight: Manage departmental budgets, resources, and compliance with College policies and WHS standards
  • Community Engagement: Promote the College's mission, values, and Jewish ethos through inclusive and respectful leadership
What We're Looking For
  • NESA-accredited teacher with relevant experience as a Head of Department or Assistant Head of Department
  • Proven experience in educational leadership, ideally within a high school setting
  • Deep understanding of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and inspire teams
  • Commitment to student wellbeing and academic success
  • Ability to manage resources and budgets effectively
  • Valid Working with Children Check, First Aid & CPR certification
  • A strong work ethic, displaying determination, self-motivation and curiosity
