The Opportunity:

Ashurst Advance Digital (AAD) is the firm's technology and experience powerhouse. We work with our New Law business to develop differentiated services for our clients, whilst embedding digital as a competency for the whole firm through developing and enabling future-fit tools, capabilities and mindsets.

Ashurst Labs is the community within AAD responsible for the firm's experimentation environment, designing, developing and managing digital platforms, products and solutions, together with the curation, ownership and governance of platforms used by Ashurst Advance. It does this through the three disciplines of software development, product management, and data science.

This new role is focused on specifying, creating, maintaining and connecting databases within our Azure environments. You'll work within our cross-functional agile teams, and alongside the Labs team to create and support client-facing solutions and internal initiatives. As legal work is increasingly digitised, the need to structure, store and manipulate our client's data and our own content is a key differentiator. This new, growth opportunity offers the right candidate a chance to join a team at an exciting stage of expansion, to see initiatives through from idea to implementation and to shape and drive transformation in a firm committed to outpacing change.

A full job description including a breakdown of responsibilities can be found attached to the role on our careers page

  • Proficiency in Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, and other Azure data services. Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate) and experience in building RAG based GenAI applications within Microsoft Azure are highly desirable.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, Python, or similar.
  • Experience and confidence with development tools and methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and DevOps practices.
  • Passionate about getting your hands dirty and working proactively in a fast-paced, constantly adapting environment. You'll need high attention to detail, the ability to work with cross-functional teams, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
