
Database Administrator

Your role as The Database Administrator works within a team of DBA's to ensure the health of the Oracle and SQL Database environments.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Driving a culture of excellent customer service and providing advisory services.
- Contribute to and support the future direction of our database environments
- Automation, reporting, tool deployment as well as delivery and implementation of governance best practises to optimise database services to internal and external customers, suppliers, and support teams.
- Supports the design of service component capacity.
- Ensures that operational processes are in place to maintain secure configuration, consistent classification, and
management of CIs, and for the verification and audit of configuration records.
- Reports on the status of configuration management. Identifies problems and issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Oversee data collection mechanisms and how they fit into data architecture, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Manage basic aspects of the data management system with guidance from senior colleagues
- Develops and maintains specialist knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, design principles,
architectures, software, and facilities.
- Install and test complex databases and associated products to ensure they are suitable for use and meet
customer requirements.
- Provides technical expertise to enable the configuration of software, other system components and equipment
for systems testing.
- Anticipates and balances the needs of multiple stakeholders
- Works with full competence to create and run queries and interact with various database interfaces and query languages
- Works with full competence to use a storage area network (SAN) to enhance accessibility of storage devices, such as disk arrays and tape libraries, to servers.
**Essential experience**:
- Over 3 years experience in the position
- Practical database administration in large organisations and across heterogenous platforms such as _Azure, Windows Server, Linux, VMWare and Veeam_
- Platform operations monitoring using SolarWinds, including managing configuration and responding to system monitoring events.
- Database management experience: _Oracle and SQL Server_
- Resolve complex platform incidents while working independently and in a team
- Developed verbal, written, interpersonal, and negotiation skills to effectively communicate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in supporting the management of organisational, security and technical risks
- Possession of a relevant tertiary and/or post-graduate qualification.
- Technical database certification: _Azure DBA, OCP, MCSA, etc._
