The Recycling and Waste division of ResourceCo collects and processes Construction and Demolition waste materials across Australia, consisting of asphalt, concrete, bricks and rubble. This waste is then used to manufacture a range of recycled aggregates and recycled asphalt products. ResourceCo help the construction industry dispose of demolition waste responsibly while supporting sustainable building practices.

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and highly credentialed Operations professional to lead their mixed recycling plant at Brooklyn, a western suburb of Melbourne. The role is responsible for all aspects of the Brooklyn site operations, ensuring safe and efficient production, increasing productivity and producing products of quality levels acceptable to the customer base. This position is required to deliver business improvements projects with full P&L responsibility, while developing and achieving budgetary and production targets. The role will be focused on maintaining a high level of safety across the site, delivering outstanding customer service by producing quality products and working towards continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver operational outcomes in line with the budget.
• Manage operations from raw materials, process through to final product quality control.
• Drive a culture of safety through leadership, role modelling and compliance to safety systems.
• Drive improvement on quality standards across the site, ensuring the site manufactures products that meet all quality standards and specifications.
• Ensure site compliance to all safety and other compliance regulations.
• Ensure preventative maintenance and repairs of all plant and equipment to minimise downtime.
• Oversee production scheduling to minimise overtime and optimise output.
• Regularly review production processes and make recommendations and implement new processes to improve quality, efficiency, productivity and profitability of operations.
• Identify, make recommendations, and drive continuous improvement for all site operations
• Develop a high performing operations team that has at its core the value of respect and teamwork.
• Ensure training (induction training, WHS training, specific site / SOP training) is completed and up to date for all staff.
• Actively lead daily, weekly, and monthly audits as required.

Key Skills/Background

• Previous experience in a Production or Operations Management within a similar complex manufacturing environment, preferably in Recycling, Aggregates, Quarries, Cement, Bricks, Asphalt, etc.
• Understanding in LEAN manufacturing.
• Experience managing operational costs, ability to prioritise and achieve results.
• Experience working within a customer focused environment.
• Solid background in OH&S.
• Ability to manage and develop people.
• Focus on cost control and efficiency.
• Excellent work ethic and values importance of producing quality products.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Professional approach to work and ability to lead by example.
• Desire to challenge existing processes and procedures to drive improvements.
