Housing Australia (formerly named the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation) is the Commonwealth's independent housing authority, established as a corporate Commonwealth entity in 2018 under the Housing Australia Act to improve housing outcomes for Australians. Housing Australia sits within the Treasury portfolio and is governed by a Board of non-executive directors appointed by the Minister for Housing.

Housing Australia administers several government programs, including the Housing Australia Future Fund Facility, National Housing Accord Facility, Affordable Housing Bond Aggregator, National Housing Infrastructure Facility, and Home Guarantee Scheme. It aims to improve housing outcomes by providing grants, loans, and other support to increase housing supply, encourage investment, and support individuals in accessing the housing market earlier.

About the role

Reporting to the Director, Program Implementation, the Manager, Execution is responsible for delivering deal execution within the Housing Programs team for Housing Australia's HAFFF / NHAF program. The role involves collaborating with the commercial team, risk, legal, and other internal stakeholders to support deal closure.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage commercial contracts to financial close, ensuring all conditions precedent are satisfied by the recipient
  • Oversee the execution process for lending transactions to ensure seamless outcomes
  • Collaborate with Commercial Managers, Legal Counsel, Risk, and Treasury to support transactions
  • Coordinate transactions involving complex deal structures, including negotiations, documentation, and security matters
  • Maintain a clear audit trail of decisions
  • Manage risk approvals for waivers or variations
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful deal execution
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stay updated on risk policies and contribute to governance, reporting, and data quality of the lending portfolio

Skills and experience

3-5 years' experience in financial close processes involving debt & equity structuring, legal negotiations, and base rate setting within property or infrastructure financeStrong understanding of finance agreements and loan documentation, with meticulous attention to detailOrganised and proactive, capable of managing a fast-paced environment with competing prioritiesSolutions-focused, able to identify and mitigate risks in transactionsCommitted to achieving positive social outcomesExcellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlinesSuperior written, verbal, and negotiation skillsRelevant tertiary qualifications in Law, Accounting, Business, or Finance
