Position Title: Support Worker
Location: Mt Isa Recovery Services Centre
Employment Type: Casual
Working Hours: Various shift times available:
- Mon-Fri Afternoon Shift: 3:00pm – 11.06pm
- Mon-Fri Night Shift: 11:00pm – 7.06am
- Weekends: 7:00am - 3:06pm | 3:00pm - 11:06pm | 11:00pm - 7:06am
Classification: SCHADS Award – Social and Community Services, Level 3.1
Why this role matters:
The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia's largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
About the role:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Casual Support Workers to join our team at the Mt Isa Recovery centre
In this role, you will provide consistent, person-centred support in a safe and structured environment, aligned with The Salvation Army's recovery-based service model and organisational guidelines.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Build positive, respectful relationships with participants, encouraging self-determination and active involvement in their recovery journey.
- Identify and assess risks associated with participant activities and communicate mitigation strategies to management.
- Assist with day-to-day tasks, including light cleaning, room preparation for new arrivals, and transportation to appointments.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with TSA policies and procedures.
- Promptly report any identified risks affecting participants, staff, or the organisation to the appropriate supervisor.
What You Will Bring:
- Hold a relevant Certificate-level qualification and/or have prior experience or on-the-job training in a similar role. A Diploma-level qualification will also be considered.
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate preferred
- Possess a valid Driver's Licence.
- Must hold a WWCC – Blue card
