Your role in our UnitingCare team

We are seeking to appoint a Child and Family Cultural Support Worker to work as part of our UnitingCare Qld Child and Family Team in the Remote Area Family Service, servicing Mount Isa and surrounding areas. This is a maximum term part-time position until 30 June 2026, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

The role involves developing and implementing programs to strengthen family relationships, promote early intervention and prevention activities, increase community participation, and support family functioning, especially within First Nations/Multicultural communities. The role also emphasizes awareness of children's wellbeing and holistic support for early childhood education, aligned with family and child support to prepare children for learning and life. The programs operate in Emerald, Mareeba, Mount Isa, Longreach, and Charleville.

This is a remote service delivery role, with approximately 60% of work hours spent traveling and overnighting with families to provide support in rural and remote locations through mobile early childhood education and care services, as well as information, advice, and referral pathways.

This position is in line with UnitingCare's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Workforce Strategy, aiming to increase representation of Indigenous employees. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent as per section 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act
