Planning Project Manager | Flood Resilience Program
Role details- Initial contract to start ASAP until 17/09/2026 with a 3-6 month extension option, paying approx. $115/hr
- Brisbane CBD location with flexibility to work from home 2 days/week
- Lead the planning phase of the Flood Resilience Program, developing multi-options analyses, Detailed Business Cases, and Ministerial Infrastructure Designations
The Flood Resilience Program is a Queensland Government initiative aiming to create stronger, safer and more flood-resilient schools. The Flood Resilience Team, Infrastructure Services Division within the Department of Education, oversees and implements the program to inform an overarching infrastructure planning and design process, improving flood risk management and reducing flood impacts, including cost and time of recovery.
The RoleThe Project Manager will lead the planning phase for schools within the Flood Resilience Program, including delivering the three core deliverables (and others):
- Preparing and delivering multi-options analyses and detailed business cases (in accordance with the Queensland Government's Project Assessment Framework) for projects within the Flood Resilience Program
- Obtaining all relevant regulatory approvals for the project(s), including Ministerial Infrastructure Designations, development applications, or other approvals
- Preparing budget documentation and necessary funding approvals (e.g., Cabinet Budget Review Committee submissions) for the projects
During the planning phase, the Project Manager will lead internal and external discussions, oversee the project program, and act as the central point of contact. The role requires an experienced project manager capable of overseeing multiple concurrent education projects within planning phases of project lifecycles. Experience on government infrastructure projects and leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams is preferred. The successful candidate will be supported by the Flood Resilience Program team with specialists to support the required deliverables.
Key responsibilities- Develop multi-options analyses, Detailed Business Cases, and Ministerial Infrastructure Designations for the Flood Resilience Program with minimal supervision
- Coordinate and lead external consultant teams to deliver work within condensed timeframes
- Assist with procurement activities for engaging external consultants
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholder groups and agencies
- Provide project-specific advice to management and the executive, and liaise with other DoE units as required
- Work collaboratively with staff and external consultants
- Participate in Flood Resilience Program team meetings and contribute to policies and procedures that support the department's strategic direction on infrastructure resilience
- Build and maintain high levels of communication and partnerships with internal units, external agencies and school stakeholders to achieve project objectives
- Develop and maintain project programs to a high standard
- Undertake project risk assessments to ensure project and corporate risks are captured and mitigated

Casual Loading
Please note that for all Australian-based contract and temporary roles the pay rate includes mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed-term roles.
