Collectively we make the impossible possible.Recognised for delivering projects of global and national significance that help keep Australia safe, it is our shared passion that shapes our culture, and our people that make it a great place to work.About The OPPORTUNITYWe have an exciting opportunity for a Project Planning & Controls Team Lead to join our Hunter Class Frigate program based at Osborne Naval Shipyard, SA.This position will be responsible for leading the proper use of the company Earned Value Management (EVM) System so that the project management team can adequately monitor and report on project cost, schedule progress and risk status.This role will lead a team of Project Controllers to perform this function at either program, portfolio or project level.
In the conduct of assigned duties, the successful applicant must maintain the goodwill of the Customer and company management, by ensuring that our established EVM processes are carried out to report and manage the project with timely, accurate EVM data.We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.Key Responsibilities IncludeManaging the activities of the project or program Project Controls team to establish the initial cost & schedule baselineProviding expert assistance in the use of cost & schedule tools (Open Plan / Primavera / Microsoft Project, and Cobra) to manage the project team to use scheduling tools where required.Managing the month-end EVM process of Cost Account status reporting, accruals, schedule status and forecasting, estimate to complete data input, provision of progress and variance analysis reportsAssisting the project team to undertake performance management using the variance analysis and corrective action planning processesProviding customer required and management level EVM data & associated reportsPresenting and discussing EVM data knowledgably at Customer progress meetingsFunctional responsibility for the performance, career development and mentoring of direct reportsAbout YOURelevant tertiary qualification in Project Management or equivalent (desirable)Proven performance at a similar level or demonstrated prior experience and progression as a Senior Project ControllerDemonstrated schedule and cost experience is essentialAbility to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder managementAbility to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of difference audiences is critical to this roleIntermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ProjectCurrent NV1 defence security clearanceWe believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
