Ravenhall Correctional Centre, part of The GEO Group Australia, is located west of Melbourne and is Victoria's largest prison for adult sentenced and unsentenced males. Its contemporary campus-style design provides a safe and humane environment that supports GEO's Continuum of Care philosophy.

Ravenhall features a dedicated Forensic Mental Health Unit, a Closed Supervision Unit for prisoners with challenging behaviors, and a small Mission Based Unit for first-time offenders. About Ravenhall Correctional Centre

Ravenhall is Victoria's largest medium-security prison for adult males, emphasizing offender rehabilitation and reintegration, especially for young adult offenders, Aboriginal prisoners, and those with complex health needs. The centre collaborates with partners like Forensicare, Correct Care Australia, YMCA, Honeywell, and Bendigo Kangan Institute of TAFE to deliver comprehensive programs.

Key Accountabilities :

  1. Process fortnightly payroll, including workers' compensation payments and reimbursements, ensuring accuracy by manually checking data imported from Kronos and applying corrections.
  2. Review rostering exceptions, rectify based on approvals and evidence of time worked.
  3. Monitor payroll records for staff, correct errors promptly, investigate omissions, and obtain necessary authorizations.
  4. Ensure payments and entitlements comply with relevant legislation.
  5. Perform administrative tasks related to Human Resources functions.
  6. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the HR department.
  7. Assist with specific payroll and HR generalist functions.
  8. Process payroll for all staff at Ravenhall.
  9. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand operational needs and develop solutions.
  10. Provide guidance to staff and leaders on HR/payroll queries and effective people management.
  11. Maintain databases, ensure communication, and generate reports as required.

Key Selection Criteria :

  • Qualifications in human resources or business with an HR major, or extensive HR experience.
  • Knowledge of payroll principles; experience with rostering/scheduling is advantageous.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Solution-oriented with initiative and self-drive.
  • Understanding of HR policies, enterprise agreements, and employment legislation.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to manage priorities and respond proactively.
  • Experience with payroll programs and data reporting.
  • Respect, integrity, and empathy in handling confidential matters.

Desirable :

  • Experience payroll for 500+ employees.
  • Background working in complex organizations.
  • Experience with Kronos and Infinium systems.
