About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our senior leadership team and lead our Utilities business nationally. The role involves supporting teams in New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria.

In this position, you will oversee engineering aspects of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You'll have the opportunity to shape systems, implement governance frameworks, and contribute significantly to our growth. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading engineering management for water and wastewater projects from design to construction.
  2. Developing systems, processes, and governance frameworks to ensure high-quality project delivery.
  3. Collaborating with design teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure feasible, cost-effective designs aligned with project goals.
  4. Providing technical leadership across design and construction phases, ensuring compliance with standards and specifications.
  5. Working closely with project managers, site managers, and construction teams for seamless coordination.
  6. Mentoring engineering teams, providing resources, skills, and training to meet project objectives.
  7. Identifying engineering and construction risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  8. Supporting team growth through mentorship and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  9. This role can be based in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, or other flexible locations, with travel as needed. We are open to flexible and hybrid work arrangements; please specify your preferences in your application.

What you'll bring to the team

  • Proven experience in engineering management within the water and wastewater sector.
  • Expertise in design and construct projects, with contractor-side delivery experience preferred.
  • A background in mechanical engineering with strong design management skills is highly desirable.
  • A passion for improving systems, processes, and governance frameworks to ensure project success.
  • A natural problem solver who enjoys tackling complex challenges and partnering with clients and teams to deliver innovative solutions.
