About the Role

  • Provide culturally safe, respectful, and holistic support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women during pregnancy, and to women whose babies identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Walk alongside families from the antenatal period through to when the child reaches school age.
  • Work in partnership with families, Registered Midwives, and Child and Family Health Nurses.
  • Offer support in ways that best meet each family's needs — phone, telehealth, home visits, hospital, or community settings.
  • Facilitate yarning groups to encourage connection, peer support, and sharing of experiences.
  • Connect families with culturally appropriate health and social services.
  • Deliver care guided by the Ngiyang Aboriginal Pregnancy, Child & Family Health Service Model of Care.
  • Focus on strengthening health outcomes, wellbeing, and cultural connection for families with children aged 0–5 years on the Central Coast

About You

  • Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent, identify as being Aboriginal and accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act.
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence and willingness to travel.
  • Committed to supporting women during pregnancy and throughout early childhood, ensuring families feel safe, supported, and culturally respected.
  • Passionate about early childhood development and ensuring the best start to life for Aboriginal children from birth to school age.
  • Understand the importance of culturally safe, holistic care, and confident working within an Aboriginal Model of Care
