Overview

Reserving Actuary, APAC at AIG. This regional actuarial role supports the APAC insurance business and delivers on strategic initiatives as part of the APAC actuarial team. Actuaries quantify risk, price insurance and reserve losses for AIG's major insurance operating companies, collaborating with Finance, Claims, Operations, Marketing and Risk Management to help predict, manage and mitigate risk.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate US GAAP quarterly management reporting requirements with the regional tower leads
  • Assist in supporting strategic portfolio reviews and deep-dive analyses of certain APAC business segments
  • Prepare local regulatory reporting for Australia and New Zealand offices, including quarterly Board and Risk Committee reporting, quarterly valuation, solvency calculations and IFRS 17 disclosures, and the Annual Insurance Liability Valuation Report and Financial Condition / Stress Testing Report
  • Review capital projections and investment strategies including Asset Liability Matching (ALM)
  • Provide support to the budget loss ratio exercise and annual financial planning
  • Assist in other ad-hoc analyses as required
What You'll Need To Succeed
  • Minimum 3 years of General Insurance experience, preferably reserving in long-tail lines
  • Proficiency in actuarial concepts and methodologies; ability to educate non-technical managers on technical areas that enhance their decision-making ability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective project and time management and strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as take responsibility for individual contribution
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise own work
  • Ability to forge relationships with other areas of the business
  • Working knowledge of typical actuarial reserving software
  • Professional integrity with a high level of ethics
